At AITW we believe that climbing has the power to be life changing, bringing with it an amazing community and a whole load of physical and mental health benefits.
If you’re already comfortably sending V0s but would like to advance to more complex V1 problems, then you are ready for our Level 3 progression session. This session leads on from Level 2 but if you already have a grasp of twisting hips, flagging, and climbing by using your legs rather than your arms then this session could benefit you. In this session we focus mainly on V0-V1 problems which are not straight forward “ladders” adopting different techniques to help us reach the top.
What you will learn
- Consolidating the skills learned in Level 1 & 2 (See Adventuress Climbing Academy for sessions)
- Levelling up accurate footwork – Foot swaps workshop and how to trust feet on smaller foot holds
- Working on problems that we cannot ‘flash’ (climb first go) and understanding the techniques to conquer them – Rock overs, arete use, locking off, smearing
- Exercises to use during your own climbing time to excel your grade
- Route Reading and Projecting
- Climbing shoe care and how to pick your first pair

I am a bit nervous to turn up and climb in front of people
It’s guaranteed that everybody feels a little nervous, but once you get on the wall you’ll find that all you can focus on is the climb, which is the beauty of climbing! We will all be cheering each other on and not take our sessions too seriously.
I am scared of heights!
Nobody will be encouraged to climber higher than they feel comfortable, and sometimes even climbing half way up the wall can feel like a big achievement! Climbing is a fast track way to overcoming a fear of heights, ask your instructor.
What do I wear?
It is encouraged to wear gym style comfortable clothing. Jewellery should be removed and hair tied back. Avoid hoodies due to front pockets and hood. It will be essential to wear climbing shoes which can be rented at the gym, climbing in trainers or bare foot is not permitted.
