Day 1
White water rafting and cycling in Pieniny National Park
Touch down at Poprad airport where your guide will be waiting to transfer you to your accommodation. Together we’ll get to know each other over brunch and get ready for our first adventurous activity – rafting in Pieniny National Park! Transfer takes around 1 hour and we’ll spend up to a couple hours on a fun wild ride down a scenic river. We will then hop on a bike for an easy going ride back to where we started. After such an eventful day you will have the opportunity to lay back and relax at the hotel.
Day 2
Adventurous hike in Slovak Paradise National Park
We’ll have a breakfast of champions and get ready for a full day of adventurous hiking in Slovak Paradise National Park. The hiking will involve climbing some ladders and trekking along side waterfalls and chasms. This epic hike will take approx 9 hours, with frequent breaks and lunch.
No special equipment is needed for this hike, but a good level pf physical fitness is advised, and no fear of heights due to some of the ladders we will scale and platforms we will be walking on.
We will be transferred back to our hotel (around 35 mins drive) and enjoy a restful evening.
Day 3
Hiking in the Tatra Mountains – Heading for the summit
Another hearty breakfast will prepare us for the stunning Tatras National Park – Ostrva Hike. You’ll need a lot of space on your phone for all of the photos you’ll take as this hike delivers jaw-dropping views for the entire duration. We will hike to the summit of one of the highest peaks at 1,966 meters above sea level where we will admire unparalleled views of Popradske lake and a lunch stop in a mountain top chalet.
The rest of the day will be dedicated to relaxation with a visit to an eco water park and spa which features thermal baths and a swim up bar. Who could resist?
Day 4
Hiking in the Tatra Mountains – Journey to the waterfall
After breakfast, we will once again head to Tatras National Park. This time for a hike to Waterfall Skok, one of the the most colossal waterfalls in the Tatras.
After the hike we will head to a local restaurant for lunch and take a mountain train to the neighbouring village to hop on a cable car. This is optional, so if you would prefer you can choose to explore the village instead. There is exciting forest tobogganing that you can try!
The cable car will take us to Skalnate Lake, serving up more spectacular views. If you fancy a little bit of adrenaline then you’ll have the option to hire mountain carts to ride all the way from summit to base.
In the evening we can get together for optional farewell drinks, and to reflect on the amazing adventure we experienced together.

How do I get the members discount?
You can sign up to our yearly membership to benefit from big discounts here
How fit do I need to be for the hikes?
Good physical fitness is needed for some of the hikes on the this trip. We also recommend that you do not have a fear of heights as you will be scaling some tall ladders during one of the hikes.
Can I get my own room?
Yes! Private rooms are available for an extra cost. Please enquire via the booking form.
Do I need my own insurance?
This trip includes ‘mountain insurance’ but you will still be required to take out your own personal travel insurance to take part in this trip. We recommend True Traveller insurance.
What is the food like during the trip?
It’s varied. There is Slovak cuisine which is very hearty food and a lot of stews. There are also other options, Western cuisine such as burgers or Italian cuisine in the
restaurants.
Please note that selection of lunches at the mountain chalets will be limited. All supplies are transported to the chalets on the backs of Tatra’s sherpas, and so if you have any specific dietary requirements, please make sure you have some food with you.
How essential are hiking boots?
Due to the nature of the hikes we will be taking part in, Tatra Escapes have a ‘no hiking shoes, no hiking’ policy in place. Gym trainers or sport shoes are not suitable for where we will be going, and we will be obliged to refuse a place on the hike on the grounds of keeping you safe.
What’s the weather like in September?
It’s very seasonal in Slovakia. In September, you can expect the usual autumn weather, hopefully on the warmer side. Nights can be chilly. For the mountain treks, please bring an extra layer as the temperatures can drop the higher we go.
Can I swim the natural lakes?
Unfortunately, swimming in all mountain lakes is not possible. Please do not attempt this as you can be fined 3000 Euros as there are laws protecting the lakes in Slovakia. Tatra’s lakes, waterfalls and waters are very sensitive ecosystems which can be compromised by human contact. Leakages of substances such as deodorants, sun creams, repellents, even residue of shower gels can kill various species (see endemism).
Can I bring alcohol with me on the hikes?
For your safety, alcoholic beverages are strictly forbidden on the hikes
Will there be a Whatsapp group?
Closer to the departure date there will be a Whatsapp group created for those attending so you can swap gear advice and maybe even have a cheeky meet up prior to the trip.
